Time Lapse

Calculate interval, clip length, and memory for time lapse

How to use Time Lapse

  1. 1Enter the time you want to film the real world.
  2. 2Enter the frame rate for the interval and final video.
  3. 3Reads the total frame number and the final piece length.

Number of frames and fractional calculations for late photography

Frame = length / interval; fractional seconds = frame / frame rate

Timed photography is sampled at greater intervals, compressing slow change into short video.

Common target is 24-30 fps smooth play; spacing determines how much time each frame represents.

Time-lapse is a video that compresses long and slow changes into seconds to minutes. ** The length of a piece = the number of sheets frame rate (usually 25 or 30 fps)**, the number of sheets = the total length of the time taken. Example: 30 minutes of clouds, 3 seconds apart, 600 ÷ 25 = 24 seconds. ** The choice of spacing depends on the speed of change**: clouds, vehicle flows of 1-5 seconds, flowering of minutes and orbits of 20-30 seconds (which is also subject to 300 rules).

** Three main hardware preconditions**: 1 absolutely stable tripod (any shaking in a piece is a catastrophic "fruit effect"); 2 Spacing function (a body menu or fast-door line to ensure "Spacing = exposure time + processing time " ); 3 Manual locking of all parameters - ** Must be with M, manual focus, fixed white balance** (Automated mode will jump between frames and scintillation). ** Late-stage velocity adjustment in PR/AE using LRTIMELAPSE + Lightroom (Professional) or inside brands, or directly using sequences based on fixed parameters. ** Note the battery/storage surplus, with a long breath of hundreds of thousands.

Frequently asked questions

How much?

Depending on movement: clouds 2-5 seconds, stars 15-30 seconds, plants may grow in minutes to hours.

How long?

Speculation seconds = total frame number ÷ frame rate; the longer the frame, the smoother.

Does the speed of the gate matter?

The gates should be much smaller than the interval (e.g. within half) and avoid gaps and scintillation.

Why is the time-delayed video flashing?

is caused by an inconsistency in the parameters of the frame. The most common causes: 1 ** use automatic exposure/autowhite balance/automated ISO**, with a slight change in colour per frame, and a visible blinking (especially AUTO ISO jumps in light); 2 ** ** radial leaves or ND mirrors enter light changes at different angles** (low VND rotation); 3 Intra-aircraft noise is activated occasionally on long frames (closing long exposures down noise); 4 too short intervals result in some frames not being processed and jumped. ** Solved: complete M-file, manual focus, fixed white balance, off all automatic and noise reduction, slightly longer space than exposure + processing time. This post is part of our special coverage Global Voices 2011. **

Do you have time-delays on your phone? How do you do that?

Yes, modern mobile phones all have a "time-delaying" mode (iOS/Android support, automatic synthesis). Point 1: Use a tripod or place (hand-held); 2 Locked exposure (slowing the sun behind a focus frame long enough to avoid automatic flashing); 3 Subject selected scenes with marked changes (clouds, traffic, currents, sunrise); 4 Cell phones are usually automatically compressed into short videos, which cannot be fine-tuned at a later stage as a camera. ** Progress: a third party, App (e.g. Lapse It, ProCam), can space and export sequences at their own later stages. ** Note that mobile phones are fast-consuming, heat-released, long-duration recommended electrical plugs or low-temperature environments.
