Random Number Generator

Generate random numbers with various distributions

How to use Random Number Generator

  1. 1Sets the minimum and maximum values of the range you need.
  2. 2Select the number that you want to generate, and whether to allow repetition.
  3. 3Generates and reproduces the results, or redraws a new set of numbers.

How the random number was created

The result is evenly extracted in [min, max] closed compartment

The probability is equal for each number within the compartment; the generator is seeded by a system clock, and therefore the results of continuous extraction vary.

For security-sensitive scenarios such as passwords or draw awards, a password-safe generator should be used instead of a universal generator.

The output of the generic generator is determined by an internal “seed” that is mostly linear or based on Hashi's pseudo-random algorithm; the same seed will reproduce the same sequence, and therefore repetitivable scientific experiments will require fixed seeds for review by others.

Password security generator (e.g., system /dev/urandom, CSPRNG) from unpredictable physical or system noise entropy, the output cannot be extrapolated to the next value through the already seen sequence, suitable for the token, salt value, key, etc. Combining the two would lead to security risks or non-recurring experimental results.

Frequently asked questions

Will the numbers repeat?

Closes "permissive repetition" when a non-repeated value is required; default opening applies to independent extraction.

Is it really random?

It's pseudo-random, good enough for games and samples, but not for encryption.

How can the winner be fairly drawn?

Set the range as a participant number and extract it once; open the way to ensure that the process is transparent.

How can results be repeated?

A seed value is fixed in the generator that supports the seed; the same seed, the same algorithm, and the same range must have the same extraction sequence.

Is it a decimal or an integer?

This tool is extracted by integer range; if a decimal between 0-1 is required, the range can be expanded (e.g. 0-1000) and divided by 1000 to 0-1.
