Area
Calculate area of various shapes
How to use Area
- 1Pick a shape: rectangle, circle, triangle, trapezoid and more.
- 2Enter the required dimensions (length/width, radius, base/height) as prompted.
- 3Read the area and switch the unit freely (cm², m², inch², etc.).
How is area calculated?
rectangle = w×h; circle = πr²; triangle = base×height÷2Area measures how much two-dimensional surface a shape covers, in square units. Each shape has its own formula: a rectangle is width times height, a circle is π times radius squared, a triangle is base times height divided by two.
Keep units consistent: if sides are in centimetres the result is in square centimetres, and mixing units produces wrong answers. Area comes up constantly in renovation, land, fabric cutting and packaging design.
Frequently asked questions
What if my units differ?
Unify the side units first, or switch the result unit inside the tool, to avoid the 100× error from mixing cm and m.
How do I find the area of an irregular shape?
Split it into regular shapes, sum their areas, or use a grid estimate; for precision use a CAD tool.
How many digits of π are used?
The tool uses enough precision (about 3.14159) for daily use; specify more only in scientific work.
