How to use Pace
- 1Choose: distance+time → pace, or pace+distance → finish time.
- 2Enter distance (m/km/mi) and time, or your target pace.
- 3See pace (min:sec per km), finish time, and split suggestions.
Running pace: pace vs time
pace = time ÷ distance; time = pace × distancePace is time per unit distance, shown as 'min:sec per km'. It's the yardstick of training intensity: at the same heart rate, slower pace means lower intensity.
Deriving pace from distance+time tells if a run met its goal; pace+distance previews finish time for race or training planning.
Switch metric/imperial to turn a goal like 'sub-30 5K' into a daily executable pace range.
Frequently asked questions
Pace vs speed?
Speed is distance per time (12 km/h); pace is time per distance (5:00/km). Runners use pace because it maps to 'how hard each km feels'.
How to plan training with pace?
Use easy/tempo/interval pace zones. After this tool gives target pace, fine-tune by heart rate or feel.
Calculated time far from actual?
Terrain, wind, fatigue slow you. Pace is the ideal-flat reference; add margin for hills or headwind.
