How to use Personal Loan

  1. 1Enter loan amount, APR, and term (months or years).
  2. 2Pick repayment: equal installment is most common.
  3. 3See monthly payment, total interest, total repaid, and compare terms.

Personal loan payment: APR and term

payment ≈ P×r×(1+r)^n ÷ ((1+r)^n − 1)

Personal loans usually use equal installment with a fixed monthly payment. The key variables are APR (cost of money) and term (monthly pressure).

On 100k, APR 6%→18% can multiply total interest several times. Longer term lowers the monthly but raises total interest—don't pick long just because it's easy.

This tool puts 'payment comfort' and 'total cost' side by side so low monthly payments don't hide extra interest.

Frequently asked questions

APR to monthly rate?

monthly = APR ÷ 12. 12% APR → 1% monthly. Some ads use 'monthly fee rate' not real APR, which is costlier after conversion.

Is a longer term better?

Lower payment but worse—more total interest. Choose long only if you need lower payments; otherwise prefer short to save.

Why is the payout less than I borrowed?

Upfront fees, guarantee fees, or pre-deducted interest. Look at APR and total repaid, not just the monthly.
