How to use Discount

  1. 1Enter the original price and discount percent (e.g. 20%), or enter the sale price to back-calculate the discount.
  2. 2The tool instantly shows the saving, the final price, and the equivalent 'fold' discount.
  3. 3For stacked coupons or thresholds, chain two steps to get the final price.

How discounts work: logic and formula

final = original × (1 − discount%); saving = original − final

A discount is proportional subtraction: 20% off means multiplying by 0.8, same as 'pay 80%'. Don't be misled by wording—'X% off' and 'pay (100−X)%' are identical in amount.

When stacking, 'discount then threshold' differs from 'threshold then discount'. Usually discounting first then checking a spend threshold favors the buyer, but platform rules vary.

Converting to 'fold' is intuitive: 20% off ≈ 0.8× (8 折), 35% off ≈ 0.65×. This tool shows the net price and discount strength for easy price comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Is 20% off the same as paying 80%?

Yes, exactly—both multiply the price by 0.8. The wording differs but the final amount is identical.

Which comes first when stacking coupons and thresholds?

Order changes the result. Most stores discount first then test the threshold; if the threshold is on the original price, threshold-first is cheaper. Read the rules.

How do I gauge discount strength quickly?

Map percent off to fold: 30% off ≈ 0.7× (7 折), 50% off = 0.5×. Lower net price means stronger discount, but also check tax and category limits.
